This custom is of the ever-popular Samus Aran from the "Metroid" series. It was a personal challenge to do this project.
I've always been interested on doing Urban Vinyl customs, but the cost of blanks was just cost-prohibitive for me, and then Hasbro released Mighty Muggs. While a lot of UV diehards might cringe at the idea of a "mainstream" corporation messing around in the scene, I actually welcomed the opportunity to step in to the custom UV arena and not break the bank So I bought a Star Wars Mighty Mugg Lando, and went to work!
The figure has been modded with an LED light setup, and has UV-Light Reactive / Glow in the dark paint. Overall, it took about a week and a half to make.
It was a fun project, and I look forward to doing more. I want to eventually step away from doing licensed characters and just really make some far-out MUGGS, but I have a few ideas of character who I want to see in this format
**UPDATE**
The buyer of this MUGG left me GREAT feedback on Ebay! Whew! I'm pretty confident in my work, but when I saw it go for so much on Ebay, I had gotten a bit nervous for some reason. Needless to say, I'm a bit more confident in my work, and with me learning even more ways to hook up LED gimmicks, LOOK OUT! More Mugg customs are on the way!
wow cool, what material did you use for the extra parts on the head and arm cannon, is it sculpy or fimo? something along those lines, and how much did you get for it on ebay?
Aww, it's so cute. I like all the extra detail you put in (with the light up cannon and glow in the dark paint) Most people probably wouldn't think of that.
